The Ceremony of the international official opening took place on November 22nd 2006 in the old shoelace factory in Wuppertal Ostersbaum. The opening was organised in conjunction with the Expert Conference on the Marrakesh Process “Creating Solutions for Sustainable Consumption and Production” which was held in Wuppertal on November 22nd and 23rd 2006.
The programme of the international opening consisted of different elements, from official dinner speeches to art performances and exhibitions on sustainable consumption and production. At the end of the night the people who have attended the opening enjoyed the rich (all-organic) buffet and danced through the night!
Speeches were held by:

- Mr. Peter Hennicke, President of the Wuppertal Institute

During the whole evening of the international opening, there was an exhibition of Sustainable Products that the participants brought along. Here is a short selection of the products:
